Norfolk Island

South Pacific

Earth, etc...

This is at 167°57'E, 29°02'S, roughly 8km x 5km (3455 hectares) tip of a 2.5 million year old ex-volcano on the Rise linking New Zealand to Noumea. It is 1700km NNE of Sydney, an external Territory of Australia. About 1500 residents and 30000 visitors a year. It has a 50km/hr speed limit, and cows, ducks and feral chickens have right-of-way on its roads, all tar-sealed. 10 to 25 international flights a week (up to Boeing 737/Fokker 2000 size) from NZ, Brisbane, Sydney, Auckland, plus supply ships Auckland/NI/Lord Howe Island/

Kerry and I decided a 7 night stay on Norfolk Island would be a nice thing to do this year, after our week on Lord Howe Island last year. Very nice place, but we needed passports! Oops, out comes the ugly pix - ever seen a _good_ passport photo?

Some views of the island - going around the island clockwise from the first view we had.

The Cascades and Falls are in the valley NNE/NE from Callam Court. OK, I got the levels a tad off, and the cropping has yet to be done... At least I fixed up the table sizes (at last.)

I still have to crop and reduce image sizes, so these pix will alter. Next, I'll add a link to a page of index files to all 225 pix I took. So if you want copies, I can upload them. Or send you a cdrom with the lot... You never know, it may make you want to go there. And I haven't even told you how good the shopping is!
