Home Paddock

OK, it's not really a paddock, it's a house - my home. This is where we hang out usually, and have done since about 1967. It's in the middle of suburbia, and I can only dream of the little acreage outside Richmond, Tasmania - where it gets a bit cool in winter, but the countryside is soooo nice, and, and, and... unfortunately reality bites. Selecting the image will lead you to a clearer, larger version: 600 x 329, 56kB, taken 1998-08-30, 0500UT.

The website you have reached is another of the self-seeking advertisements for the power of the personal computer over good taste. It has pix of my family, our cats, lots of captures from my bookmarks file, reasonably sorted, if not fully upo-to-date and I have tried to keep it to plain vanilla HTML 4.01, so there. Enjoy. Now (2000-03) I find out (www.w3.org) that x/html is the go'er, and that 4.01 is passe. Times change.

Works in Progress

2000-03-18 : Rolling contentedly along with the site updates. No major changes, except that I found the bookmark file I used to generate many of my pages had some 140 url errors out of 1100 entries. Not too bad after 2.5 years... So, I'm sifting through the error reports, and updating relevant files. Expect additional entries as well. And I may even get back to opening up the dreaded Oxford English Dictionary for browsing odd words again.

2000-03-11 : Just started practising on Dreamweaver v3, so what better than a general site tidy up? I have added some pix to intros, as we now have a puppy - Cindy, a Shi Tzu cross Maltese terrier. There'll be more minor fixes as the weekend rolls along.

2000-02-27 : I have updated my other interests page with daily weather links and to keep track of cycling clubs here in NSW. Kerry and I have spent many an enjoyable afternoon and evening at the Dunc Gray Velodrome, a whole kilometre from my little paddock. Dunc was Australia's first gold medallist in Olympic cycling, and the Velodrome is the site of the Olympic cycling in Sydney in 2000. I also tidied up my Lord Howe Island page, or was that the Norfolk Island page?.

I can't believe how time has flown. Busy, busy - just not on the web page... Just a few minor updates to the Astronomy page - I've started to weed out the broken urls, and want to start adding some new ones. And some broken pix links on my Gardens page. (oops)

I last updated the site with the Norfolk Island page as noted below. Some plans are in train to add pix to the Lord Howe Island page, IF I can get Windows 98 to allow me to use my Artec scanner. Talk about Catch-22! "I have detected a new device" leads to "That is not a driver for this device" and around we go.

Another aim is to get the Hart family tree book online. I'm attempting to write a book based on the descendants of John & Bridget Hart (ca 1820 co Leitrim Ireland) and my cousins are getting anxious. The promise to write this was back at Easter 1990......

I have also added more pix for the family on the Introductions page - my inlaws, nieces, my twin bro and his latest four, one son's new kitten (Jemima)...

All changes prior to 2000 are now shown on my changes page.
